The Diploma in Dialysis Technology is a paramedical course. It trains you to help people with kidney failure get safe dialysis treatment. At Assam Institute for Paramedical Studies (AIPS) in Dibrugarh, you learn in the classroom, in modern labs and in partner hospitals. If you want a hands-on healthcare career after Class 12, this course is a good place to start.
Healthy kidneys clean your blood. They remove waste and extra water. When the kidneys stop working, a machine must do this job. This treatment is called dialysis.
The most common type is hemodialysis. A machine filters the blood outside the body and returns it clean. One session usually lasts about four hours. Many patients need it about three times a week.
A dialysis technician sets up the machine, connects the patient, watches the treatment and keeps everything safe. This diploma trains you for that work.

About 10–20 practical hours per week, depending on the course and semester

Dialysis is hands-on work, so practice matters. At AIPS, you practise in labs with real equipment and keep a logbook of every skill. You then rotate through partner hospitals and labs, including dialysis, ICU and wards. You always work under trained staff. Attendance in postings is required.
When you enquire, our counsellor will tell you the awarding body, the certificate name and the centre code for this course. Before you join any paramedical course, ask three questions. Who awards the certificate? Is it recognised by the relevant state or national body? Will you get this in writing? We are happy to answer all three.
Dialysis technicians work in:
Hospital dialysis units
Stand-alone dialysis and kidney care centres
Nephrology (kidney care) departments
Intensive care units
Transplant support teams
Common job titles include Dialysis Technician, Dialysis Assistant and Patient Care Technician (dialysis). With experience, you can move to senior technician or unit supervisor roles.
Some universities let diploma holders join a bachelor’s programme in dialysis technology at a later stage. Rules differ, so check before you plan.
